Social Media Killed the Democracy Star 2.0 is a reboot of the original devised, multimedia theatre play that premiered this last spring of 2024 at South Mountain Community College. The play highlights the ramifications of social media. All across the United States different stories and characters collide with one another over hot topics ranging from inflation, abortion, cancel culture, news ratings, lonely influencers, drug addiction, domestic abuse, and OnlyFans fame, all at the expense of overlooking the collapse of democracy. This dark satirical dramedy takes the audience on a harrowing ride to discover the value of having a choice.
2.0 will be twice as funny, sexy and hip as the original.
Auditions will be held:
August 22nd: Thursday at 6pm

South Mountain Community College
Rehearsals begin early September after Labor Day.
Rehearsals will either be:
Monday & Wednesday 5pm-8pm or
Tuesday & Thursday 5pm-8pm.
Pre recorded media, principal photography and promotional materials will be filmed September: Saturday 22nd & 28th from 10am-5pm.
The show is teched during rehearsal on either
October 14th & 16th : Monday & Wednesday 5pm-8pm or
October 15th & 17th: Tuesday & Thursday 5pm-8pm
No monologue is necessary.
Come ready to cold read and perform a physical theatre activity.
Hard copies and selected scenes from the script will only be made available during auditions.
