In honor of Black History Month, the South Mountain Community College Black Student Union will host The Black Student Union Cookout: The Legends of South Mountain.
Friday, February 23 | 1pm - 4pm
PAC-706, PAC-AMPH, PACPAT LL
In the Black culture, the cookout is affectionately known as a celebratory event that includes food, fellowship, fun, tradition, and creating memories. The Black Student Union will sell hot links, chips, and soft drinks, and water during the event for fundraising purposes. The Black Student Union plans to uphold this fond tradition to conclude the festivities of Black History Month. During the cookout, The Black Student Union will provide insights into the rich Black history and culture within the South Mountain community, our state, and country, with food, oral history, art, and music with a DJ on site to keep the gatherers hyped for during the event.
We hope attendees will leave with a wealth of information and fresh perspectives concerning the heritage and cultural influence of past, present, and future Black Americans.
