More than 120 families took advantage of the first day of drive-through food bank at South Mountain Community College this past Thursday, October 8. Hosted by SMCC and St. Mary's Food Pantry, the drive-through event allows families in need to pick up free fresh produce and food boxes from the safety of their own automobile.
Dozens of volunteers turned out to help work the event and distribute food, including: 26 members of the SMCC baseball team, seven members of the SMCC women's golf team, eight SMCC staff members and two alumni, as well as 15 members of the National Guard.
The drive through food bank takes place in the SMCC Performing Arts Center parking lot, every other Thursday from 7:00 am - 9:00 am, through December 3. For the complete listing of times and days visit the event webpage.
