More than 200 middle school students from four local schools came together at South Mountain Community College on December 10 to take part in SMCC’s Young Innovators Conference. The conference showcased the work of SMCC’s Storytelling Institute fused together with technology.

Breakout workshops gave students a hands-on approach to help them explore their creativity, tour the SMCC campus, hear first-hand from SMCC students, staff and faculty, and learn about college opportunities and programs.

Middle school teachers also had an opportunity to join is, as dynamic workshops were also available for them, with a focus on inspiring and equipping teachers with new tools for the classroom.

The successful event is expected to become an annual gathering that continues to grow.
