On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the SMCC Black Student Union (BSU) hosted "Open Mic and Traditional Drumming" with Billy Issim Ramsey, a local artisan in the South Phoenix community who donated his time and talent to showcase to our campus how the arts have always been a part of Black culture and expression. We had over 50 students and staff stop by to enjoy the good vibes and our fellow students sharing their poetry, songs, music, dance and drumming.
The BSU hopes everyone appreciated the space that was created to celebrate our students' talents during Black History Month and look forward to organizing future events for our student body and community to engage furthermore.
