Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Governing Board of the Maricopa Community Colleges has established policies, procedures, rules and regulations designed to provide a safe and positive learning environment. Students are expected to know and comply with these regulations in the classroom and throughout the college.
Student policies are found in the college catalog, student handbook, or on the Maricopa County Community College District website. The most commonly requested information on regulations, rights, and responsibilities that all students in the Maricopa County Community College District need to know are summarized below.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of copies or other reproductions of the copyrighted material. A person using college equipment is liable for any infringement.
The following documents issued by the United States Government or any of its agencies may not be copied: paper money; food stamps; immigration papers; bonds or other certificates of indebtedness; IRS stamps (canceled or uncanceled); Selective Service or draft papers; identifying badges or insignias; passports; checks or drafts drawn by government agencies; US postage stamps.
Copyrighted works cannot be copied, however, sections of a copyrighted work may be copied under "Fair Use" guidelines. Multiple copies would indicate improper use.
Works of art are considered as the equivalent of copyrighted works. Licenses and certificates of title to motor vehicles may not be copied under certain state laws.
Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted materials, including unauthorized peer-to-peer sharing, may subject an individual to civil and criminal liabilities.
