International/Intercultural Services
About Us
The South Mountain Community College (SMCC) Office of International Education Services was established in Fall 2008, in response to the growth of our international student population.
This office oversees our International/Intercultural Committee, the Study Abroad Program and International/Intercultural Education. Its purpose is to foster international/intercultural events and exchanges, and to serve as a center and resource for international students at SMCC.
Our Mission
The mission of the Office of International Education Services is to promote global awareness among students, faculty and staff; to advise the college community about issues related to our international students and visitors; and to assist in the development of Study Abroad opportunities for students and staff.
To accomplish our mission, we strive to maintain a civil campus environment that values diversity, promotes respect for all individuals (regardless of their status), protects free speech and academic freedom, promotes the pursuit of individual goals without interference from discriminatory harassment, and presents the campus community with a wide variety of events/projects that will increase the student knowledge of culturally different groups.
Events and Activities
At South Mountain Community College, we know that what you learn inside our classrooms is only part of your college experience. That’s why we schedule many activities, social events, and gatherings every year, including for our international students. Special days on campus that celebrate our college’s persity and the many cultures of our students take place regularly. These events also give our students from other countries a chance to share their traditions and heritage with our entire campus population.

International Friends Club
In alliance with the SMCC Student Life and Leadership Office, the SMCC International Friends Club provides opportunities for students to exchange ideas, cultures and experiences. The International Friends Club meets regularly, to help students from all cultures and backgrounds build a college home at South Mountain Community College. All are invited to participate!
